Today’s look was shot nearly a year ago upon one of the most scenic rooftops in Philadelphia! It’s a spin on a traditional business casual look. What exactly is business casual wear? I personally believe business casual is a dressy bottom such as a slack, khakis, or a skirt and a coordinating top. Your top doesn’t necessarily have to be a traditional button down. Instead, for a business casual look you can opt to wear a polo shirt, or a different type of dressy blouse. The possibilities for what business casual can be for a woman are nearly endless. My go-to for a business casual look tends to be a bottom with a bold print or pattern, and a matching top. Believe it or not, one of my favorite places to find business casual wear is at Shein.com. They offer affordable business casual sets for less than $30.00. I discovered this pair of blush pink, paperbag slacks at H&M for less than $10.00. They’re incredibly comfortable and functional, and are more of a linen-like fabric. While I chose to dress them up on this occasion, they can also be dressed down by pairing the pants with a graphic tee, such as a band tee and a pair of booties.
Instead of the traditional button down top, I wore a sleeveless button down that I also found at H&M. H&M is an affordable place to find business casual clothing, along with everyday wear. I found this top on the rack for only $3.00! I have it in a few different colors and it’s perfect to layer under a blazer or sweater when you want to wear a collared shirt without the sleeves. In this photo, I’m wearing a pair of jelly sandals I purchased at American Apparel years ago before they went bankrupt. However, during the day I wore a pair of nude flats I found at Walmart. Walmart is a great place to find affordable flats for work. My favorite flats they sell are a pair of suede-like pointed toe flats that are only $5.87! I’ll have more business casual looks for you all (hopefully) once we’re back to normal this autumn! - Chelsea Nicole, The Mod Little Melanin
