In a world of fashion bloggers who wear the same old, Kardashian inspired clothing for every single post. Who wear boring, monochromatic tones (white, grey, beige, nude). Who wear the same style of high waisted denim cutoffs, jeans, etc with a pair of Birks, and alternate a white top and call it fashion, I chose to stand out. Maybe you won't mix prints in your outfit, or you won't wear fur (real or faux) because you love animals too much (save the lectures, I've already blocked many people who needed to voice their opinions to me this past winter), but I will. Fashion is about art, and art is about standing out. No one is going to feature your painting in a museum if it's an exact replica of The Mona Lisa, so why would you do the same with your style? I understand some people are terrified to take fashion risks, they fear what others might say or do behind their back, or that they'll get looks. I take pride in people staring at me when I wear my hot pink fur pom headband in public, or when I dress like I've spent two weeks at Coachella. I wish more would dress without the fear of other's opinions. It's perfectly fine to wear the latest trends, but mix them up! Make them your own! You don't have to dress like you just left Kim Kardashian's closet to gain attention in the world of fashion. My favorite blogger and YouTuber is Charmine Daudu, @Charmise on Instagram and @MissCharmise on YouTube. She's so confident in her style. Mixing prints, patterns, textures, colors and trying the latest stand out trends always. The point of my thoughts is simple, dare to be different! Fashion is supposed to be fun; who cares what others may think! I certainly don't! I created this look based on a Polyvore Style Set I made. I wanted to come up with creative ways to wear a simple denim mini shift dress I had purchased from Oldnavy for a few dollars (seriously, their clearance is amazing sometimes). The dress is very mini on me, so I must always wear it with tights, knee highs, leggings, etc to make it tasteful. To avoid looking like a four year old, Polyvore was my best option for outfit planning. I added a pair of Hanes hot pink tights I found at the Dollar Tree for $1.00. I have these in every stand out color, orange, purple, turquoise, and hot pink. They're top quality and wash up well in the washing machine. I've managed to get more than one wear out of these without them snagging or tearing, which is awesome! To add more hot pink vibes to the look, I tied a silk scarf into a neck bandana. I got this scarf at my former job, Love Culture, before they closed down their only Kansas City area location. The scarf features hints of gold, and I wanted my outfit to feature those gold hints as well. I added a pair of gold flatform sandals from Target which I was able to snag for about $10 last season and stacked a few gold bracelets and rings for accessories. Hot pink lipstick was the key to pulling this look together. Your fashion should reflect your mood of the day! Be a Style Chameleon in a world of Kardashian dupes!
