The horrid fashion styles of the early 2000s are slowly creeping back into stores and will slowly began to reappear in our closets. When I think of fashion, circa 2002, I think of gaudy, over the top looks with far too much detailing in one look, shiny, metallic-like, pastel fabrics with matching crop tops, and paired with a square toed, chunky heel. In other words, if the look every walked down the runway at the MTV Awards, you can bet that it is back in style. And I am absolutely loving every minute of it. I came across a pair of metallic, loose fitting pants at American Apperal this summer (don't believe the hype we do actually have nice clothing stores in Kansas) that I was dying to have. These pants were regular $50.00, but I was lucky enough to be able to purchase them for 50% off the sale price. After buying these pants, they sat in my closet for months. I could not figure out how to style them, how they would look best or even how to make them look casual. After scrolling through some fashion magazines, I finally pulled together the perfect look to wear with these pants. Taking a page from my days of shopping at Hot Topic (don't ask, cause I won't tell) I decided that this look was best paired with a Bob Marley graphic tee, while I do own a Marley graphic tee from Hot Topic, this particular shirt is from Target, and was about $5.00. I wanted the pants to look and feel casual and comfy, and felt the best way to do so was to tie up the tee in the front, and slide my pants just underneath where the shirt stopped to make the look appear effortless and easy to throw together. I styled this look with a thick, velvet gold choker, and a pair of flatform gold sandals from Target. However, now that I have more of my shoes from back home, I would have opted to complete the look with a pair of platform, glitter shoes, also from Target.
