Okay, so it's no secret that I'm coming to the end of my journey in Kansas and will soon be moving to Hampton, VA to further my education and recieve a Master's of Medical Science in 2018! 😎 It's also no secret that I have a love hate relationship with Kansas (the state not the school - RCJH) and would rather live just about anywhere else. However, that does not stop me from supporting my Alma Mater every chance I can. Its been a year since I graduated from KU and called LK home and boy do I miss it! Today's OOTD includes a little nod to the Jayhawks that I love so much. I had purchased a Jayhawk ringer tee from Rue 21 about a month ago and have been trying to figure out a cute way to style it. I'm not really into casual dress, so I tried my best to keep this look unique. My favorite place to find casual pieces (which I end up taking above and beyond) is Rue 21. Their clothes are super affordable and last long if they are cared for properly (i.e. you actually follow the washing instructions on the tag). They always have online sales and free shipping often which is great to take advantage of if you do not have a physical store near you. My ringer tee was only $3.00 and they have tons of other schools on the website for that price, along with other ringer tees. Overtop of my tee, I added a pair of pleather skirt overalls I bought from H&M a few years back. This fabric doesn't have much give, and will rise up as you walk if they fit a bit snug on you. I would not recommend this pair of overalls for the curvy girls. I'm not super curvy, but felt that I was pulling on them throughout the day to keep it down. I added a pair of shorts underneath (cheer shorts) in case any mishaps occurred. My jewerly for this look included a choker from Wet Seal and hoop earrings. I'm also finally carrying the faux fur keychain trend I spoke of last week during Yeezy Week on The Mod Little Melanin. My "Chanel style" purse is from Charming Charlie and I found my keychain at Walmart for $3.00. My white combat boots are from Wet Seal. Stating the obvious here, but this outfit was a terrible decision for a 100 degree day. Boots aren't meant for year round wear in Kansas, though I'll still try to force the trend all summer 16. And faux leather (pleather) has no business being outside in the summer and may be best suited for a club scene. I've got to admit, this is one of my favorite looks on The Mod Little Melanin, thus far.
