Culottes, also known as gauchos, also known as the dreaded pants you wore in middle school with your chunky flip flops, tank top and cheap plastic jewelry from middle school are back! Instead of reliving the trauma of your middle school years, dress up your culottes to create the perfect boho festival look! My culottes for this outfit were purchased from Burlington, and were a find on the clearance rack. I first featured culottes in my Spring Denim Trends blog post that was uploaded on The Mod Little Melanin during March (to find this post, find the March button under the archives tab on the right side of the page). At Forever 21, culottes run for about $25.90 or more, so I was highly pleased to find this pair for $9.99. When I wore this outfit, it was a chilly and windy Spring day, so I added a tan, striped turtleneck to my culottes for warmth. I purchased this turtleneck from Rue21 for $3.00 and love it! I have several of these turtlenecks in various colors and they instantly can provided a boho look to an outfit when styled properly. To further my boho look, I added a cream faux fur vest, my go-to look on chilly Spring days. I originally added a knee length faux fur vest to the outfit because I thought it worked beat with the culottes, however, I quickly realized that my vest was too warm and decided to wear my shorter faux fur vest. To complete the look, I wore my cream boots, that were purchased from Charming Charlie's, and included my tan and cream faux fur purse that I had also purchased from Charming Charlie's. Here's another look below you can create with culottes to give a grunge festival look. Start with your denim culottes and add a band tee or tank. Most culottes are high-waisted, so you are able to took in your shirt, if you would like. Another look you could do, is to tie up your shirt slightly, if you feel comfortable with that look. To accesorize, layer your necklaces! The necklaces in the style set are connected into one large necklace, making it easy to create this look. An old trend that is on the rise is to add an ascot to your look. This can be done by taking a small, square scarf and tying it around your neck. Add a large fedora, gladiator sandals, and your grunge look is complete!
