The holidays are the perfect time to include glitz and glam in your wardrobe! Sequins, metallics and velvets are heavily incorporated into my winter wardrobe, but if you aren't quite ready for full metallics from head to toe on a random winter day, here's a simple way to sparkle this holiday season. \n \nStart with a metallic bottom, either a pant or a skirt. My metallic palazzo pant is a find from American Apparel, however, similar metallic pieces can be found at Charlotte Russe. (The entire store is on sale for less than $20.00 right now!) To not over power the look, I paired my pants with a black, ruffled, off-the-shoulder top from H&M. This top was a part of their Black Friday Collection and was available online only for $4.99. Though this shirt features ruffles, it can be styled in a variety of ways. Though, I decided to dress-up this look, in the coming winter months, I will show an easy way to dress down an off-the-shoulder top.
Complete your metallic look with minimal accessories. I choose to wear gold earrings, and stacked several rings on my fingers. Happy Holidays! - Chelsea Nicole, The Mod Little Melanin

When I was single I promised to do more Date Night/Girls Night Out Looks for The Mod Little Melanin, and never fulfilled my promise! Now that I'm actually in a relationship, I promise to fill The Mod Little Melanin with tons of looks perfect for spending time with your significant other or close friends. This first look is perfect for a visit to an art museum; I had the pleasure of enjoying the art of a local art museum in Virginia. I decided to go for an artsy look for my visit to the museum, and opted to wear a clean, white, button-down dress I purchased from H&M during the summer. It features a few buttons at the neckline, and has minimal graphic design on the sleeves and back of the dress. I layered a pair of black, fleece leggings underneath the dress for warmth and added a pair of over-the-knee black boots from Rue 21 to complete the look. No artsy look is complete without a painter's beret. My beret is a clearance find from Forever 21. If you're looking for a beret, Rue 21 has an assortment of styles and colors on sale for only $5.00.

Today's beauty product under review is Forever 21's Press-On Manicure Nails. They're available in a variety of colors and are only $4.90! I was lucky enough to purchase them on sale for only $2.30 on Black Friday! The nails are easy to apply; simply take them out of the package, find the acryllic nail that matches your nail shape, and firmly apply the nail. For a secure hold, I applied Kiss Lightening Brush-On Nail Glue before applying the nail, in hopes of extending the wear of my press-on nails. While these nails are fun, affordable and easy to apply, they are oddly shaped. When I attempted to file the bottom of the nail to make it better fit my nail bed, as you would any other home manicure, the "chrome" of the nail came off. Because the nails are shaped awkwardly, they don't lay flat against my natural nail, and give a raised look on the nail bed. I lost a nail within the first twenty-four hours which never happens when I apply my Kiss Press-On Nails. I would not recommend these nails for extended wear. I don't believe they'll last longer than three days, and definetly will not last the seven days stated on the packaging. However, these nails are perfect for short-term wear! They're trendy and affordable and are great for those who work in professions where long nails cannot be worn at work.
I'll stick my Kiss Press-On Manicures in the meantime. 😉 - Chelsea Nicole, The Mod Little Melanin |
