Protect Black Women. Protect Black Women at all costs.
As a Black and Native American woman, woman from both of my ethnicities are hardly protected. Crimes against our community are swept under the rug. We’re told to get over it. To move on. They want us to believe we are not worthy of saving. Not worthy of protection. Not worthy of love, care or compassion. Black women are worthy. Native American women are worthy. We are worthy desire, compassion, love, happiness and everything in between. We deserve safe homes, safe communities, and uplifting notions in the public eye. We are worthy of saving. We are worthy of protection. Do not put us down. Do not diminish our hardships. Do not make us seem as if we are desiring too much from the world. Protect us. Cherish us. Love us. Keep us safe. A few weeks ago I posted my baby blue saddle bag dupe of the ever so popular Christian Dior Saddle Bag! The post was incredibly popular, but since then I've received a few messages on Instagram informing me that my coveted dupe I purchased from Shein is officially sold out! I've taken it upon myself to find a few more dupes of the $3500 handbag that are a bit more budget friendly for the fellow broke 20-somethings out there. Keep reading to find a dupe that fits your style!
You’re look at the newest Brand Affiliate for Fashionphile! If you’ve never heard of Fashionphile, it’s an online fashion resale website where consumers can buy and sell women’s luxury designer handbags, jewelry and other accessories. There are also several brick-and-mortor Fashionphile locations around the country, including Beverly Hills, San Francisco, New York City, and Carlsbad. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite pieces I’ve purchased from Fashionphile!
Today’s post however, features a more affordable dupe version of a very popular bag. Let’s start off by defining specifically what a dupe is. A dupe isn’t a fake. A dupe is an affordable version of a luxury item that is produced and sold by a more affordable brand. Common companies that dupe luxury items to produce affordable pieces include Steve Madden, Aldo, and Fashion Nova just to name a few. Today’s handbag is a dupe of the ever so popular Christian Dior Saddle Bag. I found this dupe on Shein for $17.00. Sold on the Christian Dior website, the Saddle Bag starts at about $2900. However, you can find Saddle Bags on @Fashionphile for as low as $1700. So how exactly would I chose to style this purse? This is a causal handbag. The bold, baby blue color can serve as a neutral handbag to bring a pop of color to your outfit. One of my favorite ways to style my saddle bag is with a pair of dad sneakers, ripped jeans, and an oversized graphic tee for a quick look that keeps you cute and causal on your errands. Now you’re probably asking yourself, umm you want me to lean back when I pose? Yes! Trust me, this posing tip will correct your posture and make you appear leaner in your photos!
When attempting this pose, you want to make sure that you are standing up completely straight. No slouching! No sloppy or rushed posing. Now that you’re standing completely straight up, with your chest out, slightly place one foot behind the other, just as I have done in the photo. Lean back ever so slightly, making sure your hips are aligned backwards, and you stomach is tucked underneath your chest. I tend to suck my stomach in a bit to help with my posture. Make sure you have pretty arms and hands when posing! (I’m a former pageant girl, and have vivid memories of having pretty hands yelled at me when practicing my poses). One trick I use for this pose is lightly resting my one hand in my pocket and the other hand on my thigh. Hold this pose, and snap those gorgeous photos! Swipe to see what not to do! If you use this tip, be sure to use the hashtag #modlittletipthursday so I can repost your poses in my stories! #themodlittlemelanin Today I’m bringing a new series to The Mod Little Melanin! Each and every Thursday, I’ll be sharing my best tips so that you can get the perfect shots for your Instagram feed!
Ever wondered how I kept my “sky only” photos? You’re in luck! Keep reading below! Shooting my sky only photos are simpler than you think; shoot upward! Have your photographer hold the camera just below their chest, but above their navel. Rapidly snap your photos, and later crop out the excess background that doesn’t fit your aesthetic. If you’re using a camera tripod, don’t extend the tripod to full length. Instead, position the tripod so it’s center with your chest, and place your phone in the camera tripod pointed slightly upward. Instead of using a timer to take photos, turn on video mode and record a short video of your poses. Later, you’ll screenshot the poses you like best from the video to use as your photos.
