As a professional student (that's the term I've given myself after all the education I've done to reach medical school) I've always admired the makeup looks that my favorite beauty gurus share on YouTube. But, as a professional student my pockets aren't nearly as thick as their's to be able to afford the latest ABH palette or the latest Morphe brush release. Instead, I've spent much of my time searching for affordable beauty dupes that rival the high-end brands. My favorite website to find beauty dupes by far is ShopMissA.com! EVERYTHING ON THEIR WEBSITE IS $1.00!! You read that right! After a few nights of research, and watching YouTube reviews, I decided to give Miss A products a try! They are absolutely phenomenal, and the best affordable makeup brand that I have ever purchased. I've become obsessed with their Wonder Matte lipsticks and have purchased nearly every color. My favorite matte lipsticks are the nude shades, as I prefer subtle looks over bold looks. My favorite everday colors to wear are bombshell and hero. Bombshell is the perfect shade for a caramel skin tone, and hero is a gorgeous nude with a slight orange hue. Shown in the photo are the colors hero and boujee. Both last all day, through meals and multiple sips through a straw, and offer limited transferability onto a napkin. ![]() Paris Hilton makeup products are my favorite finds at discount stores such as Marshalls and TJ Maxx. Both palettes were purchased for less than $5. The highlighter provides a pigmented glow, while the contour palette is creamy and provides full coverage! In the future, I'll be sharing more of my favorite beauty finds, especially from Shop Miss A! Boho looks are some of my favorite looks to style, hence the name of my blog The Mod Little Melanin! And what screams boho more than a culotte jumpsuit and coordinating tan turtleneck? In a week filled with obvious signs of global warming (in a matter of days we creeped from -2 degrees to 68 degrees in Kansas) no look says "it's nearly Spring, jk not really" than a pair of culotte trouser. I decided to wear a spin of my favorite pants, and opt for a jumpsuit version of the semi-popular trouser. I found this gorgeous jumpsuit at none other than Old Navy. Old Navy has recently taken the time to rebrand their items, and on occasion you can find hip, trendy pieces amongst a sea of flannel button-down shirts and empowering graphic tees. I was lucky enough to find my jumpsuit amongst the clearance rack for less than $5.00. I've owned it for quite a few years (I've taken an oath to shop less and save more in the last few months) and it is a staple in both my winter and spring wardrobe. The versatility of this piece is absolutely endless, and my favorite way to style it during the winter months is with a neutral turtleneck and a wool floppy hat (hair permitting of course)! Turtlenecks and mocknecks are another staple in my winter wardrobe! I usually purchase turtlenecks from affordable stores such as Old Navy or Walmart, however, this piece is actually from a Rue 21 collection from a few winters back. I completed the look with knee high socks, that I "bunched" with a pair of platform ankle boots. You can purchase similar knee high socks at stores such as Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. This particular pair is from Urban Outfitters; search the website at the end of the season to find affordable hosiery accessories. My shoes were $7.99 and purchased from Gabe's, a local discount store in Virginia, that is similar to Ross! If you have a Gabe's in your area, check them out! I was so surprised when I first walked in the store and found name-brand pieces, from Steve Madden, and Rampage for a fraction of the price!
