Contrary to popular belief, ponchos can and should be worn year round. If done correctly, adding a poncho to your outfit and release instant Coachella vibes! I started with a romper as my base piece. When I purchased this romper from Oldnavy, for a mere $0.99 (you read that right, check your clearance section) I had no clue how to style it. It is a simple grey, knit poncho, that resembles a high school gym outfit of the '70s. A poncho I found in my closet served as my source of boho vibes to give the romper the perfect touch. I purchased this poncho from Forever 21, a few months back as a part of the buy one get one free sale. The poncho was marked $10.99, but I got it for free. I instantly loved the look I got from adding the poncho to the romper, and plan to recreate this look with multiple rompers and shorts throughout the Spring and Summer. To accessorize, I added a velvet grey hat purchased from Forever 21 for only $3.99. I love this hat, and the way it sits on my head. It's the perfect piece to add to your wardrobe if you are looking to explore different textures, but are unsure of where to begin. For jewelry, I mixed silver and bronze pieces together. I purchased the bronze necklaces I am wearing as a set of three (the third necklace isn't shown) from Walmart for only $1.00. I have purchased so many sets of these necklaces in various styles, and love that they can provide a different look each time. If you're looking for necklaces, I suggesting purchasing one of these sets from Walmart, they usually run for $5.00 when they are not on sale. I added gold button earrings and an assortment of gold and silver rings (not shown in the photo). I also added a brown fringe bag which was purchased from Rue21 for $4.00. I've been talking about gladiator sandals are Spring on The Mod Little Melanin, and mine have finally made an appearance. I purchased this pair from Shop Hope's, my favorite online boutique for only $33.00! The Open Minded Sandals are available on Shophopes.com in sand (the color I'm wearing) and cognac. Most gladiator sandals are uncomfortable and tend to grip tight on my calves. This pair is completely different! The Open Minded Sandals zip up the back and feature adjustable laces that can be adjusted to give each individual a comfortable fit. I highly recommend this pair of sandals. Like most lace up sandals, this shoe will create a small gap at the back of the heel when walking. Another gorgeous gladiator sandal on Shophopes.com is the Chasing Dreams Sandal avaliable in several colors; I am in love with the Aubergine (burgundy) pair. That was a lot to take in, so here's your instant recap! Start with a romper, in any color or print, and add a poncho overtop. If you're feeling risky, mix prints that are within the same color family (which will be shown on The Mod Little Melanin at a later date). Add a boho hat, gladiator sandals and complete the look with silver and gold pieces of jewelry. Keep the Coachella Vibes rolling!
