It's Day Two of 90's Grunge Revival Week on The Mod Little Melanin. Here's a look inspired by the popular 90's film, Clueless. The focal point of my entire look was a green and black plaid skater skirt purchased for $1.00 from Oldnavy. While this skirt is considered "grunge" apperal, the pairing of this skirt with other pieces of the outfit softened up the grunge look. Rather than adding a graphic tee to "grunge" up the look, I opted to add a grey bodysuit purchased from Charlotte Russe for only $1.99. Bodysuits are perfect to layer underneath your highwaisted bottoms because they won't rise up or bunch out of your pants. Velvet was a popular fabric of the 90's and is once again making a comeback in the world of fashion. I choose to add an emerald green, velvet bomber jacket that I received as a Christmas gift. Bomber jackets have the potential to be a versitile piece in your wardrobe. Pair a bomber jacket with a dress, and heeled boots for warmth, or style with a graphic tee and ripped jeans. To complete the look, I added a pair of tights featuring a silver, stitched stripe down the front of the leg, and a tattoo choker, with a daisy charm. Tattoo chokers were a staple in the 90's, and deserve to be added to your jewelry collection. My black, thigh high boots from Rue 21 were a necessity to complete my Clueless inspired look. If you feel like taking a fashion risk, add a straw hat with flowers to spruce up your look. Visit my May 2016 post archives at the bottom of this page to find the DIY!
