Today's look is a simple winter outfit, that is perfect for just about any occasion! Continue reading below for details! The key to successfully pulling off this look is layering. Even though I live in a cooler winter climate, where it frequently snows, when I go out in public I rarely wear a coat. Typically, I just add multiple layers underneath to keep me cool while I am indoors. Ponchos make great layering pieces. Not only are they typically affordable, but they are usually thick and can best keep you warm outdoors with the proper pieces layered underneath. My poncho is from Forever 21, and was purchased on clearance. If you are currently searching for ponchos, I would suggest looking online first. I usually am an online shopper, as I do not like for others to have the same pieces of clothing as me, and because online clothing is also marked down cheaper than clothing in stores. Walmart has some affordable ponchos (located by the winter wear in store) if you would rather purchase in store. I have yet to locate any other ponchos at popular clothing stores, other than on their website. Underneath my poncho, I have layered a lace top, from Charlotte Russe, and a pair of high waisted, skinny jeans from Garage. Normally, I would wear a thick sweater underneath a poncho, in Kansas, but since this picture was taken in Virginia (it isn't really cold their despite what people say) I opted to wear a thinner shirt. I completed the look by adding a pair of thigh high boots purchased from Shophopes.com. (Check their website, they are currently having a sale.) And finished off the look by adding a pair of silver hoop earrings, and a clear gloss to keep the look soft and simple.
Where can you wear this look to? This look is perfect for a day of shopping, or could even make an excellent Christmas Day outfit! Add a pair of heeled booties and cuff your jeans for a look perfect for a casual date night. Feel free to add a large, floppy hat, if you are looking for a boho look. - Chelsea Nicole, The Mod Little Melanin 💋
