One of my favorite apps for outfit planning is Polyvore, an app that gives you access to hundreds of thousands of images of clothes for outfit inspiration as your heart desires. Polyvore is also the app that I use to create style sets for Styled by Mod. When I plan for Styled by Mod, not only am I planning outfit inspiration for my readers, I'm planning future outfits for myself. The style set above was the source of inspiration for the outfit below! In my style set I created a festival look, with boho pieces. My key piece of the look was the tan suede skirt. I own three suede skirts, the one below, a long flowly skirt, and a mini skirt, and was unsure of how to style all three. I decided to pair the skirt with a black off the shoulder crop top, to not only keep with the boho theme, but to be able to go to my closet for a top for the skirt, rather than the store. I recreated my style set with a black sweater rather than a crop top to provide me with a day time look and keep me warm on a 50 degree day. My black aztec print sweater was purchased from Forever 21 on clearance a few years back for $3.99. I recommend always shopping rhe the end of season clearance sales to prep your closet for the season the following year. If you don't necessarily try to "Keep Up With the Kardashians," you should be comfortable with wearing "last season's" trends as the fashion world deems it. This sweater runs big. I'm normally a medium or large and managed to fit an extra small sweater. I recieved my faux suede fringe skirt as a Christmas gift from Forever 21. It was priced at $24.90, but is probably a lot cheaper on a local clearance in store currently. I love the length of this skirt. I have long legs and have a hard to time finding skirts and shorts that are not too short, and the fringe on this skirt hits just below my knee cap, making it the perfect length. I would have worn my longer suede skirt, but felt the sweater fit better with the fringe skirt. My usual boho accessories were added to this outfit. My oversized fedora from Forever 21, my fringe faux leather purse from Forever 21 and my black heeled leather boots from Jcpenny. I frequently wear hats on bad hair days, and this hat was a life saver that day as my curls were super frizzy at my crown. Kansas is windy. If you've ever seen The Wizard of Oz, then you know exactly what I mean. There are limited trees on this prairie land, and the wind will whip your hat right off your head if you aren't paying attention. My secret is to fold several paper towels and stick them inside of my hat to make my hat fit tightly on my head. This usually prevents my hat from lifting up and allows me to go about my day without holding onto my hat. Stay tuned to The Mod Little Melanin to see how I recreate my style set look with my long faux suede skirt. Good Vibes to all my Mod Little Melanin readers. 💋
