The 411 on Dupe Culture

Hey, mod babes! Let's spill the tea on the hottest topic in the fashion and beauty scene: Dupe Culture.

From runway looks to Insta-worthy makeup, dupes are shaking up the game, making luxe vibes accessible to every fashionista, no matter the budget.

**Why Dupe Culture Rocks:**

1. **Affordable Glamour**: Say goodbye to FOMO, darling! Dupe culture lets you rock those runway looks without breaking the bank. Who says you can't slay on a budget?

2. **Inclusivity Reigns**: Fashion is for everyone, and dupes are all about inclusion. Embrace your unique style without worrying about price tags. It's all about expressing YOU, babe!

3. **Playful Exploration**: With dupes, the fashion playground is yours to conquer! Dive into new trends, experiment with styles, and unleash your inner fashion icon without playing it safe. Life's too short for boring outfits!

4. **Empower Your Style**: Take the wheel, trendsetters! Dupe culture puts YOU in control of your fashion destiny. Skip the overpriced labels and embrace the freedom to define your style on your terms.

**But Wait, There's Tea: The Flip Side of Dupe Culture**

1. **Quality Check**: Sometimes, cheaper comes with compromises. Keep an eye out for quality, babe. A killer look isn't so fab if it falls apart after one wear.

2. **Ethical Dilemmas**: Let's keep it real, babes. Dupe culture can stir up some ethical drama. Stay woke about where your style steals are coming from and support brands that keep it classy.

3. **Respect the Originators**: Originality is everything, darlings! Dupe culture can dim the spotlight on the true innovators. Let's give credit where it's due and support the creative minds shaping the fashion landscape.

4. **Invest Wisely**: While dupe deals may dazzle, think long-term, babe. Sometimes, splurging on quality pieces is an investment in timeless style that pays dividends.

When I unwrapped these boots on Christmas morning, little did I know they were dupes of Blumarine’s F/W 2023 Hilda Leather Knee High Boots. Truth be told, I'm not one to chase trends or keep up with the runway scene. What caught my eye was the cozy fur detailing – it spoke to my personal style. That's the secret sauce, isn't it? Staying true to what makes you feel fabulous. While these boots may be riding the wave of current trends, they're more than just a passing fancy for me. They're a timeless addition to my wardrobe, reflecting my love for all things cozy and chic.

So, fashionistas, whether you're slaying in designer duds or rocking dupes with flair, remember: Style is what you make it. Stay true to yourself, and let your fashion journey be as fabulous as you are!

Maximalism, The Mod Little Melanin Way

Welcome, darlings, to a world where more is more, and fashion knows no bounds! Today, we're diving deep into the realm of maximalist fashion, where age is merely a number and boldness reigns supreme.

Gone are the days of subdued palettes and minimalist chic. It's time to unleash your inner fashion maven and embrace the vibrancy, the drama, and the sheer extravagance of maximalist style.

Who says turning 30 means toning down your wardrobe? Au contraire, my dear fashionistas! Your 30s are the perfect time to unleash your sartorial prowess and adorn yourself in a symphony of colors, textures, and patterns that command attention wherever you go.

Let's banish the notion that age dictates our fashion choices! In the world of maximalism, there are no rules, only endless possibilities waiting to be explored. From statement prints to embellished ensembles, from lavish accessories to daring silhouettes, the world is your runway, and you are the star of the show.

It's time to embrace the mantra: more is more! Layer on those bold prints, mix and match textures with reckless abandon, and never shy away from a statement piece that demands to be noticed.

But wait, there's more! Maximalist fashion isn't just about what you wear – it's a lifestyle, a state of mind, a celebration of individuality and self-expression. It's about exuding confidence, commanding attention, and owning every inch of your fabulous self.

So, let's talk about embracing the art of maximalist layering. Think bold florals paired with geometric prints, sequined skirts topped with faux fur jackets, and metallic accents that catch the light and steal the spotlight.

And let's not forget about accessories, darling! Statement earrings that graze your shoulders, chunky necklaces that demand admiration, and oversized sunglasses that exude Hollywood glamour – the possibilities are endless, and the more extravagant, the better!

In the world of maximalist fashion, there's no such thing as too much. It's about embracing the joy of self-expression, celebrating your unique style journey, and daring to stand out in a sea of monotony.

So, to all the fabulous fashionistas who are 30 and beyond, I say this: embrace the glam, unleash your inner maximalist, and let your style speak volumes. Because in the world of fashion, the only rule worth following is to be unapologetically you. Cheers to embracing the bold, the beautiful, and the utterly fabulous!

My take on Sustainable fashion

9/9/2021

If we're being honest, I'm not too fond of TikTok trends. They expedite fast fashion. What is popular this week is "cheugy" next week - I hate that word - and in the world of a fashion blogger that is NOT how I (or any other fashion blogger) operates. While I firmly believe there is nothing wrong with trying to keep up with the trends, as a fashion blogger my number one goal is to stay true to my own personal style first and foremost.

I would consider myself a maximalist. What's a maximalist you ask? The opposite of the popular minimalist trend. Instead of dressing in nudes, neutrals and black, I love to explore color, pattern, textures and prints. Mixing patterns is literally my jam! Let me start off by saying there is nothing wrong with being a minimalist. But whenever I inform someone that my style is that of a maximalist, I always receive negative feedback. I guess they assume that I am constantly feeding into the trends or that I'm not dressing "sustainable" another popular buzzword that has grown out of the TikTok fashion era.

People tend to associate minimalism with timeless trends that one can wear year after year, and therefore being the more sustainable way to dress. Maximalism, or basically dressing outside of the standard jean jacket, riding boot, skinny jean and turtleneck each and every season is not viewed as dressing sustainably...because obviously the action of one person surpasses the actions of major corporations that makes hundreds of millions of dollars per year. I dress "sustainably." I shop secondhand, constantly find gems at thrift stores, or from fellow fashion bloggers own closet. I donate items from my closet often, or resell them on my Mercari/Depop. I mean I'm beauty AND brains...I have an ecology and evolutionary biology degree, and care more about preserving the planet than the average person. So how could I still have people telling me that my actions as a fashion blogger is a leading contributing factor to damaging the environment?

That was a long rant; here is the take home message - dress how you want, and I'll dress how I want. Shop at the stores you wish, and wear the trends you want to wear. Shop small, or shop at the popular bix box clothing stores. Just do whatever makes you the happiest.

P.S.

Enjoy this photo of me wearing a sweater dress, a popular TikTok trend.
