It's Shop Hope's Week on The Mod Little Melanin! I've mentioned the boutique several times before on the blog and spoke on how trendy their clothing is for an affordable price. This week I'll be highlighting some of my favorite looks I've created with the Shop Hope's pieces I've purchased along with some of my favorite new arrivals that are currently on their website, Shophopes.com. What's awesome about Shop Hope's is if something is sold out online, you have the option of calling their store locations in Georgia to purchase from the store and recieve free shipping to your house! As always, Shop Hope's also offers free shipping on their website!

My outfit featured this gorgeous dress from Shop Hope's. Unfortunately, the It's Over Now Dress is no longer avaliable on Shophopes.com, but they have tons of other dresses available! What drew my attention to this dress was the flowiness of the dress, including the trumpet sleeves. Pictures do not simply do this dress justice, and I believe it must be seen in person to gain full appreciation.

The style of dress gave me "mod" vibes. I feel the dress heavily reflects the fashion trends of the 1960s. When wearing this dress, I felt that I was evoking the look of Motown greats like Diana Ross and even embodying the fashion trends of popular 1960s models, such as Twiggy.

Mod, which is short for Modernist is a term that was brought to America during the British Invasion of the 1960s. "Mods" were known for classy looks. Women wore short, haircuts and dressed in mini skirts, geometric print patterns, and go-go boots. The micro-mini dress, which my dress was inspired by, consisted of a flared, long skirt (that was typically flowly or in a shift style) and trumpet sleeves. Dresses were often paired with tights to provide a tasteful look with the micro-mini dress.

When styling this dress, my goal was to completely reflect the trends of the 1960s. I paired the dress with a pair of black reversible Hanes tights that were purchased from the Dollar Tree. I have these tights in several colors and LOVE them. They are super comfy, don't roll down and are the same brand/style of tights sold in retailers such as Walmart or Target. I don't own a pair of PVC Go-Go Boots, so I added a pair of knee high boots purchased from Target to create a mod look. To accessorize, I added a floppy hat from Charming Charlie, and stacked several rings and bracelets for my arm candy. My earrings are a pair of thick hoop clip earrings.

I found this gorgeous dress in the "On Sale" folder on Shophopes.com and paid only $13.00 for a dress that was originally $51.99. Check out the "On Sale" folder daily to find gorgeous steals from Shop Hope's, as well as the "New Arrivals" looks on the home page of Shophopes.com. You can follow Shop Hope's on Instagram at @shophopes to see new arrivals, sales, and enter contests! Follow them on Snapchat under the username "shophopes" for outfit previews before new pieces go live!
