It's Lollapalooza this weekend in Chicago! If you're like me and watching all of your friends flock to Chicago, here's a Lolla inspired outfit to get you in a festive mood! The focal point of today's look are these gold, metallic pants I found at American Apparel, before they closed. While most would find metallic pieces difficult to style, these pants have become a staple in my wardrobe year-round, and have appeared in multiple looks on The Mod Little Melanin. To keep this look simple, I choose to style the pant with a black, graphic halter top, purchased from Wet Seal before they closed their doors last year. The key to successfully styling metallics is to allow the metallic piece to remain the focal point through the entire look. This means minimizing all accessories (including shoes, and purses) to keep the focus on your metallic piece.
For this reason, I completed this look with my black, faux fur backpack (another summer staple) and my gold flatform shoes found at Target. If you're wearing a pant that is too long for you, and you do not plan to hem your pant, be sure to always pair your pant with a heel to keep the look crisp and clean. It appears sloppy if you allow your pant (or a maxi dress) to drag the ground as you walk. Happy Lolla! - Chelsea Nicole, The Mod Little Melanin
