I love grunge looks for Spring/Summer! They're super easy to style and can be mixed and matched to create a number of effortless looks. It's been colder than normal for May in Kansas, so now is the perfect time to highlight a great transition outfit for Spring, as well! My base piece was a green and black plaid skirt from Oldnavy. I adore this skirt, and own it in several colors. It features an elastic waistband and soft pleats to add structure to the skirt. Originally, $24.95, I purchased this skirt for only $0.47, as it was on clearance and half off the clearance price. In my personal opinion, Oldnavy has the best clearance of all popular "trendy" stores. A lot of the time, their clearance is even half off the lowest ticketed price! What I love most about this plaid skirt is the '90s vibes it gives off. My goal of this look was to create an outfit that could be straight out of Clueless, something that evoked the role of the then beloved Stacey Dash. I wanted the plaid skirt to be my standout piece, so I added a high neck, racerback style tank top. This tank was also purchased from Oldnavy for $2.00 during one of their promotions from last summer. I recommend that you sign up to recieve Oldnavy emails so you know of their weekly promotions and sales ahead of time. For warmth on a breezy Spring day, I added a faux leather motorcycle jacket. This jacket was actually borrowed from my mother, so I am not entirely sure about the purchasing information. However, similar jackets can be found at Forever 21. The most important piece of my grunge look was the faux leather jacket! This took the look from preppy Clueless fashion to a Delia's catalogue style instantly! To accessorize, I added my large fedora from Forever 21. I also included a tattoo choker necklace from Burlington, though these necklaces can be found just about anywhere. Other pieces of jewelry worn included large hoop earrings (I know I broke my one or the other rule on statement necklace/earrings, but this was an exception) and stacked rings (not shown). Because I have long legs and mini skirts are short, I added a pair of black tights (Hanes brand -purchased at Dollar Tree) underneath. I don't particularly like wearing tights, but these tights perfectly blended with my grunge look. My favorite accesory of the entire outfit are my white combat boots! These boots were a gift for me from Wet Seal. They're super comfy and make any outfit pop. Expect more Spring/Summer grunge looks on The Mod Little Melanin!
