It's Day Four of Girls Night Out/Date Night Looks on The Mod Little Melanin. Today's look is perfect for a day at the baseball park! My look is inspired by my favorite baseball team and 2015 World Series Champions, The Kansas City Royals! When dressing for a Royals game, or any baseball game for that matter, you must wear your team colors! Current Royals colors are royal blue and white, but their throwback and alternate colors are baby blue and white. My Royals shirt is a throwback t-shirt jersey of Royals Hall of Fame player, Frank White. It's an oversized shirt, size extra large, so when I wear it I always tie it up in the front or on the side. For this particular look, I thought it would look best to tie the shirt up in the front to show off the buttons on the front of the skirt. My skirt is actually a vintage piece from my mom's closet. I love vintage pieces but am a bit leery of wearing thrifted pieces. When I want vintage pieces, I tend to search my mom or grandma's closet. This skirt is from Oldnavy, and is from the Spring/Summer 2004 collection. I love that pieces from the early 2000s are coming back in style! I love my accessories for this look! I added my floral choker from Claires and a pair of oversized hoop earrings. If you're looking to dress up any look for less, add a choker and hoop earrings. I've found both at Walmart for only $1.00 each. My purse was featured on The Mod Little Melanin and is a "Chanel-style" bag from Charming Charlie's. My sunglasses are from GoJane.com and were only $4.95. They are clear, blue mirror sunglasses that are trending this summer! I added a pink faux fur keychain from Walmart to complete the look. My shoes are from Gordman's (a local store in Kansas City that is similar to Burlington or Ross) and are decorated in pearls. I love to add feminine touches to my look at sporting events to sweeten the look!

It's Day Three of Girls Night Out/Date Night Looks! Today's look is perfect for a day at the beach, lake, boardwalk or sitting poolside! In a few months, I'll be living near the beach and can't wait to spend weekends at Virginia Beach and the other beaches of the area! My focus piece for this look was a pair of flowly, printed shorts from H&M! These shorts were on sale for only $9.99 and are a part of H&M's Conscious Collection. This pair of shorts had a matching top, however, the matching shirt is still $30.00 and will not be coming home with me until it dips a lot in price. H&M clothes run true to size. My shorts are a 10 and are still a bit roomy. Without a matching shirt to the shorts, I was baffled as to which top I would wear with these shorts. I found my answer on Rue21.com. I've already talked about how much I love Rue 21 for their affordable ringer tees and great sales, but they also have nice quality dresses and dressy tops as well! My off the shoulder top in navy was only $4.99 with free shipping online! This top can be worn off the shoulder or on the shoulder, allowing you distinct looks for however you decide to rock this top! If you don't have a Rue 21 near you, I recommend shopping online at Rue21.com. I am wearing a pair of gold flatform sandals from Target that were purchased last season for only $8.98. My accessories for this look are very simple; a gold chocker and gold '70s inspired earrings. I am also carrying a faux suede fringe purse from Rue 21, that is not shown. If taking this look to the beach or lake, I recommend a large straw hat in tan, beige or white to keep the sun off of your face. Sunnies are my favorite accessory! I am sporting this pair of round gold, rainbow mirrored sunnies from Wet Seal. Wet Seal's sunglasses are currently on sale for 2 pairs for $7.00. The perfect clothes for date day or a girls day at the beach, pool or lake are flowly pieces that will keep you cool. H&M has tons of affordable options that will also work well as cover ups! Currently, they are having their 4th of July Sale with prices marked up to 70% off!
Happy Shopping! -Chelsea Nicole, The Mod Little Melanin 💋 It's Day Two of Girls Night Out/Date Night Looks on The Mod Little Melanin! Today's look is perfect for all of your outdoor summer outings, including outdoor concerts, art shows, an amusement park/carnival or any other local festival! Today's look is three words; flowly, comfy and classy. The focus piece of today's look is this high-low top from Wet Seal. I love the versatility of this top. I only paid $2.50 (originally $16.50) for it during Wet Seal's Last Chance Sale, and it was absolutely worth my buck! This top can go from night to day an is an excellent transition piece if you are looking for clothes in your wardrobe that you could wear for day time or during happy hour at the bar. I choose to dress up the look, but also plan to dress it down this summer with a pair of army green harem pants and creeper tennis shoes. I choose to dress up the look with my "Versace" shorts. Are these shorts Versace? Are they knock offs? You be the judge, but I'll never tell. I love these shorts. Flowly shorts are trending again this season and are a super comfy alternative to the traditional denim short. The gold print in the shorts allows to the option to dress the look up with multiple gold accessories, which is exactly what I did. When accessorizing, it is always important to remember to either chose a statement earring, or a statement necklace; not both. I choose a statement necklace that I bought from Walmart. It seems as if no one shops at my Walmart, so I am always able to find amazing steals and deals. My necklace was only $1.00. I am also wearing several rings which I love to mix, match and stack together. My rings aren't shown in this picture. My shoes have been seen on The Mod Little Melanin before and are a pair of black gladiator sandals I've had for years.
When attending outdoor events, comfortable shoes are key. A sandal or tennis shoe is always my go to. I also prefer to wear clothes that are cotton and will not stick to me in this Kansas heat. - Chelsea Nicole, The Mod Little Melanin 💋 |
