90's Grunge Revival Week: Fishnet Tight Trend

It's 90's Grunge Revival Week on The Mod Little Melanin! All week long I'll be showing you how to style popular grunge trends, and where you can find affordable grunge pieces!

This first look was purchased for under $21. I based the entire look around my fishnet tights, that I found on sale at Forever 21 for $3.99. I layered my fishnets underneath my distressed, boyfriend jeans, also from Forever 21. These jeans were a free item in Forever 21's buy one get one free sale. While layering fishnets underneath distressed jeans is more of a trend, it can also be used for warmth if you live in a colder, winter climate, such as the Midwest, or in the North.

I wore this outfit a bit differently to school than styled in the picture. To give the look a more daytime feel, I simply added a white long sleeve t-shirt with shoulder cutouts. To show the trend however, I added a cropped white t-shirt. Both were purchased for $1.00 at H&M. I also layered a silk bomber jacket that has been worn on The Mod Little Melanin in the past. I last styled this jacket with a pair of metallic gold pants, for a sporty sheek look.

To add to the grunge vibe, I added platform, slip on sneakers purchased from Target for $10.00. These sneakers feature pewter, silver and black glitter, and provided a bit of a girly touch to such a tough look. Accessories added to this look included a thick, black, faux suede choker purchased from Forever 21 for $3.99, and a pair of silver hoop earrings that were $1.00.
